ABOUT

His Arrowsmith

The world is full of influences that will direct our children down all kinds of paths. Some of those influences are unapologetically bad, desiring merely to ‘take’ for themselves, to chew up and spit out our children. On the other hand, many of those influences are intended for good, claiming to want the best for kids. These ‘good influences’, however, are often founded in wavering cultural norms that vary based on the feelings and trends of the day.

His Arrowsmith is a movement designed to help parents and mentors be intentional in influencing their children not just toward ‘good’ paths, but toward the life-giving path forged by the enduring principles of the Bible. Our goal is to encourage and empower others to prepare their children to enter the world armed with the unwavering truth of God’s Word.

Why “His Arrowsmith”? An Arrowsmith is a person who works in the forging of arrows, specifically the maker of the iron tips. In order to be successful, an arrowsmith must take special, concentrated care to make his arrows sharp and effective in battle. That is our job! We must take special, concentrated care to prepare our little arrows for the battle before them.

My goal is to share strategies and resources that have helped guide me in sharpening my little arrows. My prayers is that your quiver will be full of arrows sharpened with the truth of God!

ABOUT

Toni Wilson

First, I am a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Then, I am a wife, a mom of 3 little arrows, and a former teacher who is searching out my calling to grow His Kingdom. With my educational background (BA in Elementary education, MA in Teaching & Curriculum) and teaching experience of 10 years, I began writing curriculum for the Children’s Ministry at our church. I wanted to find a way to motivate kids to search through the Bible on their own, not just be spoon-fed paraphrased Bible stories and basic biblical concepts. I wanted them to see the richness of God’s Word for themselves, to dig in and make their own discoveries about who God is, to develop a hunger and a curiosity for His incredible story, and realize that they are each a part of that story in which the final chapter has yet to be written! My goal is to be an apprentice arrowsmith that honors and reflects the Master Arrowsmith in sharpening the little arrows He's put in my care. That doesn’t mean just my children, but all the children whose paths cross mine…in church and in activities with which my children are involved. It is all a training ground and there is always an opportunity to sharpen and polish those little arrows in preparation for the battle they will soon enter (or have already entered!)

There are a lot of resources available out there. Mine is one of many. I encourage you to take a look at all of them and find what works best for your “arrowsmithing”. (I even have a place where I recommend some of these resources!) After all, we are all on the same team! I believe God has created us all for a specific purpose. And as I continue to seek out mine, maybe you can be blessed in the process. Much of my material is free. All I ask is that you use it with intention. Dig in. Be engaged. Sharpen your little arrows so they will shoot straight when the battle comes.
